Montana Professionals to Gather in Missoula for Building Codes Education Conference

  • — March 27 2026

MISSOULA, Mont. - Industry professionals from across Montana will gather in Missoula for the 22st annual Building Codes Education Conference, scheduled for March 30-April 2, 2026.

Hosted by the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, the conference offers free training and continuing education opportunities for professionals in construction and safety-related fields.

The event is designed for building code officials, fire officials, inspectors, architects, engineers, contractors and other construction professionals. Attendees can choose from a variety of courses covering current building codes, safety standards and industry practices, including significant changes to the International Building Code, National Electrical Code and other model codes.

“This work goes to the core of the department's responsibility under Montana law - maintaining building codes that balance cost of construction, modern building techniques, and the health and safety of Montanans and our first responders," said Sarah Swanson, Commissioner of Labor and Industry. “This conference is how we deliver on that responsibility, through education and outreach that ensure codes are applied consistently, safely, and efficiently across our state.”

Department of Labor and Industry Building and Commercial Measurements Bureau Chief Eric Copeland said the event also serves as a forum for collaboration across the industry.

“Our goal is to provide practical, up-to-date training that professionals can apply in the field,” Copeland said. “The conference also creates an opportunity for dialogue between regulators and the building community.”

The conference will be held in person at the Hilton Garden Inn Missoula, 3720 N. Reserve St. Registration is open at no cost, though space in individual sessions may be limited.
