HELENA – The Montana Department of Labor & Industry today announced the 2021 Montana State Employer Council (MSEC) Fred Unmack Scholarship award winner is Kylie Nay of Circle, Montana.
The Fred Unmack scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to high school seniors wanting to further their education through a course of study at the post-high school level. Kylie will receive $500 towards her goal of attending Dawson Community College in Glendive as she pursues a career in nursing.
Kylie was chosen because of her scholastic achievements, involvement in school, financial need and her plans for the future. Kylie graduated from Circle High School in Circle with honors. Outside of the classroom she also exceled in volleyball, track, swing choir, speech, and drama. For over a year Kylie has been working as a certified nurse aide, and during the summer she is a lifeguard.
Kylie says she believes it’s important to get a high quality, affordable education and has chosen to start at DCC where she can excel and enjoy the small class sizes, she is accustomed to.
Kylie says, “I’m really excited for this scholarship and the opportunity for it to help me realize my educational goals.”
Montana Department of Labor & Industry Commissioner Laurie Esau adds, “I personally congratulate Kylie on this accomplishment. This scholarship is one of the many ways our employers support efforts to foster a new generation of workers with the skills they need to succeed.”
Kylie was nominated for the scholarship by the Glendive Job Service Employers’ Committee. The Montana State Employer Council’s (MSEC) collaboration with business and community leaders across the state is supported by Job Service Employer Committees (JSECs) in 23 Montana communities. The council is made up of a representative from each local JSEC, serving as a liaison between employers and Job Service Montana staff.
