MONTANA- While Montana continues to make slow but steady progress to improve workforce safety; businesses from across the state received recognition today for their commitment to making workplaces safer.

Businesses and individuals received their awards by the Montana Department of Labor & Industry (MTDLI) at the annual Governor’s Conference on Workers’ Compensation. Categories for the Governor’s Safety Achievement Awards include Small, Medium and Large Employers, Public Entities, and Outstanding Workers’ Compensation Professional.

“These businesses have shown an ongoing commitment to safety for Montana’s workforce,” said Acting Labor & Industry Commissioner Galen Hollenbaugh. “The goal of the Montana Department of Labor & Industry is that every worker goes home safely after their shift ends and these awards recognize those businesses have taken the next step to make sure they have safe workplaces.”

In order to receive the Governor’s Safety Achievement Award, nominees had to prove they are not only compliant with the Montana Safety Culture Act, but that they are going the extra mile in creating a safety culture in their workplace.

The recipients of the 2017 Governor’s Safety Achievement Award are:

  • Small Employer: Libby Asbestos Superfund Site, CDM Smith & PRI-ER
  • Medium Employer: On Site Management – Bozeman
  • Large Employer: Pacific Steel & Recycling – Statewide
